Discovery World

Monday, July 28, 2008

Guests gather in the Youth Activity Room in the Midwest Center at 8:00am and return at 3:00pm.  Prior to bus departure, youth will participate in a planning meeting and will be assigned to team leaders (bus departs at 8:45am).

Put your explorer cap on, because you are about to go on an adventure!  This awesome journey will take you through a techno-jungle where you will operate a segway, create toys using robotics, enter a virtual reality world, and star in your own movie using a green screen.  You’ll travel through an aquarium and if you dare, touch a sturgeon or a string ray or you may chose to play with the weather, creating a thunderstorm.  Climb aboard and learn the tales of a full-size 1800’s Great Schooner replica.  After lunch we will relax with a movie before journeying on.  You don’t have to choose between activities, we are going to do it all and much, much more!

The day wouldn’t be complete without a hike through Lakeshore State Park.  This is a 17-acre island in the heart of downtown Milwaukee.  Wear some comfy shoes and be ready to explore the world, as you have never done before! (Courtesy of Discovery World)

Lunch will be at Discovery World.

Milwaukee County Zoo/Country Springs Water Park

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Guests gather in the Youth Activity Room in the Midwest Center at 8:00am and return at 9:30pm.

It’s a zoofari kind of day so we’re going on a picnic at the internationally acclaimed Milwaukee County Zoo.  The zoo offers something wild for everyone, with 2000 rare mammals, birds, fish and reptiles in the 200-acre park.  Each team will be tasked with items to locate during a scavenger hunt; there could be prizes!  Guests will receive tickets good for a ride or an attraction.  If a safari train, zoomobile, glider, or carousel is not your idea of fun, take in the Sea Lion Show or the stingray exhibit.  After lunch, guests can relax in the shade of the Bear Den or play games before trekking deeper into the zoo.

So you think you’ve had all the fun you can stand in one day?  Hang on because we’re going to the Country Springs Water Park with over 45,000 feet of adventures for you!  Don’t worry if you’re less than 42”, your team leaders and chaperones will be happy to brave the Triple Dog Dare and Double Trouble with you.  You’re on your own for the Cyclone though!  If you’re just too pooped to move, relax on the Barrel Roll River and watch the water sports in the activity pool and the fun in the interactive area.  Or head to the arcade for some land-lovers fun.

This adventure includes a pizza party.
